The first known use of the phrase "free open source software" on Usenet was in a posting on 18 March 1998, just a month after the term "open source" itself was coined.
The fundamental difference between the two movements is in their values, their ways of looking at the world. For the Open Source movement, the issue of whether software should be open source is a practical question, not an ethical one. As one person put it, “Open source is a development methodology; free software is a social movement.” For the Open Source movement, non-free software is a suboptimal solution. For the Free Software movement, non-free software is a social problem and free software is the solution
“Free software” is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of “free” as in “free speech,” not as in “free beer.”
Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. More precisely, it means that the program's users have the four essential freedoms:
* The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
* The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
* The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
* The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3). By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
A program is free software if users have all of these freedoms. Thus, you should be free to redistribute copies, either with or without modifications, either gratis or charging a fee for distribution, to anyone anywhere. Being free to do these things means (among other things) that you do not have to ask or pay for permission to do so.

Web Technological Revolution
Technology is the traits by which man adopts more hospitable environment. Therefore Information technology is the traits by which man can put information, can change information ,can remove information and as well as can fetch information in a very comfortable way.So, Information and exchange of information is bigggggg issue in our life! If you are a scientist then you want to share your discovery to all . If you are a businessman then you need to inform your clients about your business. For every man,for every designation and for events in the world, information distribution is required. So the target was how to make comfortable the 'information distribution process' and specially when there is a physical distance among source and destination.
Necessity gives birth the technology and day by day evolution makes it more accurate towards correct and then again requirement also changes day by day as it full fills previous requirement. This cycle will continue in an infinite loop for the shake of development and advancement. Thus exchange of information modified to automatic exchange of information and then automatic exchange of information among all people over the world and similarly the boundary of information technology expanded from desktop application to intra net application to internet application or web application.
In it's early stage,if you wanted to make your system automated then you needed to develop a whole software. You need to buy/rent a hardware and platform to run that software.Though Overall thing solved their physical requirement but main problem was it's high cost.Due to high cost middle level business man could not able to adopt this system.
But technology should be for all people for any scale. Then software modules are clustered according to the domain of business and requirement such that client can buy/rent only his/her required portion instead of buying whole thing. This service oriented solution definitely reduced cost. Thus SAP became huge popular.

clustering was just going on like:-customer management, accounts, inventory, ecommerce and so on and many application service provider(ASP) came into this field.
Till client need to buy hardware and platform totally whatever be business growth/down by that service through out all months. So new concept came to solve this issue that everything will be in service and its charge will be according to the traffic or hits or business. This is Cloud.
Cloud computing provides resources, software, and informations on-demand.
To be continued....
